Multi level marketing has been around for 60+ years now and has achieved much success in many ways. However there are downsides to the old school techniques that quickly become turnoffs to many people.  This is why you should learn the truth on MLM.

For most people the number one challenge doing business the old MLM way is in the recruiting process. Since most people don’t have a broad base of connections they end up focusing on people they already know- their family and friends.

Even for those who are well respected by family and friends this can be tricky because most people don’t want to feel pressured or pestered about a business opportunity they have no interest in. This can tend to create hard feelings with them straining relationships.

The next challenge is the time and effort it takes to build a business the old way. Typically it involves making many phone calls and making meeting presentations.

If you’re lucky enough to live in a big city you may be able to conduct a lot of your business locally but it still entails driving across town at the end of your work day and pitching your business in someone’s home or perhaps in a hotel meeting room.  Your Downline showed you this is the only way to recruit.  This is why you need to know the truth on MLM.

With weather issues and no-show possibilities this can become a real negative way to pursue building a business. And because it can be so difficult many of those you do enroll into your business realize they can’t do it and drop out.

Another challenge for many people is the cost issue. Since most people get involved in MLM to make extra money it’s a tough to build a business this way when you have to spend money first.

The trips and the meetings add up quickly especially with the price of gas today. When you add to it the cost of meeting rooms and perhaps the cost of food, it can be enough to discourage many people.

In addition many MLM businesses require an upfront purchase of inventory which just adds to the cost. Distributors are then likely to become too aggressive trying to get rid of it to family or friends or get stuck with it.

So when looking at how MLM businesses were built in the not-too-distance past it’s a wonder there were as many successful people as there were. Unfortunately though there were far more unsuccessful. Many statistics show that there was a 97% failure rate.

That is not a surprise when you consider that most people got involved in a MLM because they either wanted to get out of a job they didn’t like or needed to make extra money. But they ended up in an MLM that was more difficult than their job and actually cost them money.  It was the truth on MLM.
